The reunion promises thrills that could only have been dreamed of for the original, made when computer animation and other relevant technologies were in their infancy. This time, the Avengers battle the villainous Ultron, played by James Spader. Visual effects supervisor Christopher Townsend — a Marvel veteran who supervised the effects for Iron Man 3 — supervises a visual effects team that includes ILM, Double Negative, Animal Logic, Luma Pictures and Framestore, with special effects supervisor Paul Corbould and the mechanical wizards at Legacy Effects lending practical effects support. Pictures present the fourth film in the saga of Max Rockatansky Tom Hardy , federal police officer turned post-apocalyptic road warrior, who this time battles the Imperator Furiosa Charlize Theron in the wastelands of irradiated Australia. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures unleash havoc across California in a grand-scale seismic cataclysm, orchestrated by director Brad Peyton, and told from the perspective of an emergency-response helicopter pilot Dwayne Johnson who attempts to cross the state to rescue his estranged daughter Alexandra Daddario.

The Cinefex iPad edition is an enhanced version of our print magazine. Best of all, the collection is fully searchable, making this an invaluable tool for researchers or effects artists — or anyone who wants to delve into our 30 years of unsurpassed visual effects coverage.

All issues since have been designed specifically for the iPad. Each issue contains all of the articles and ads appearing in our print edition, but includes nearly twice as many photographs, many of which are interactive, allowing readers to toggle back and forth between plates and comps and elements to see how visual effects shots come together.

Whenever possible, we also incorporate video clips and breakdowns of effects shots and sequences. Single issues and annual 6-issue subscriptions can be purchased directly through the Cinefex app.
