In , Racer X made their recording debut, Street Lethal, an album featuring the impossibly dexterous string-skipping and razor-sharp speed picking of guitarist Paul Gilbert. Why did he wait so long? So when I became a solo artist, I wanted to be a singer, too - still have intense guitar, but in the context of a band. So I figured that, before I condemn all-instrumental guitar music, I should at least give it a try - see if I could make a record that not just guitar players but also regular rock fans would enjoy. Read on for a feast of pick-melting, tendon-tearing moves, as well as some more nuanced approaches and even a few riff-writing concepts. I kick in a delay after that, to loop it, and then I go into the moving-capo part.

This DVD has the best production values of any instructional video I have ever seen. I love the way Paul uses the entire video to tell a story, and entertain as well as instruct. The only drawback is that Paul assumes that everyone who watches this video knows their scales, and chords. It would have been nice if he could have given the scales, even if it were only a cursory overview. Then the student could interpret them in his, or her own way.
This would have opened up a whole world of possibilities. But, on a whole this DVD kills! The information Paul delivers is very enriching. As for his technique? Forget about it. Paul is just one of the best! Shred away guitar nubes. In Part 2, he sporadically mentions things that would be aimed at relative beginners There are a couple of other cool licks, but the video ends up a mess of a lot of talking Before attempting to play along, you should already know all the major scale modes and the melodic minor scale.
Read full review by ocecantshred May 27, The way to shred is here! I should have gotten this DVD first. It is filled with what one needs to really master before going any further. I suggest that you go to that section first before studying the more difficult alternate picking excercises. Highly recommended instructional DVD.
Very informative, effective, and entertaining, too!
